Welcome to our FAQ Page. Although chiropractic care has gained widespread acceptance throughout the medical community and among the general population, we find that many people have misconceptions about chiropractic care. We hope you will find this information helpful. If you have specific questions about our services or a condition from which you suffer you may call us at (760) 949-3969 or e-mail the doctor at  backandneckpaincenter@yahoo.com

Q. Can Chiropractic Care help me?

A. Chiropractors are specifically trained to detect & correct problems associated with the musculoskeletal system.  If you are experiencing pain, especially in your neck, back or down an extremity, you are probably a candidate for care.  Your pain and discomfort are probably related to joint dysfunction (subluxation) and or nerve impingement, conditions that chiropractors commonly treat.

Q. Does it hurt?

A. If you are already in pain and highly anxious, you may have some initial increase in pain, but we have ways to minimize this.  We can calm the area down with ice and electro-therapy and decrease some of the pain and inflammation.  We ca do gentle stretching first before attempting manipulation.  We may have to work with you like this several days in a row to get a gradual physiological change & get beyond the bodies “overprotective” mode”

Q. Is it expensive?

A. Most group insurance will have a deductible and then copay.  Most HMO’s have simple copay.  Medicare will have either a $4 or $8 copay after a deductible.  If you are uninsured or your insurance has no chiropractic benefit, we keep our fees low, but competitive.  Seniors over 65 with no chiropractic coverage get an extra discount.

Q. How long do I need to be under Chiropractic Care?

A. Occasionally we have the one time miracle adjustment.  Usually 20 years of pain and self abuse require multiple visits.  We recommend 4 office visits with no more than 2 days between visits to get maximum initial improvement.  Physiology takes time to get a change for the positive.  Ligaments can take up to 3 months to heal. Muscle re-education & structural alignment takes even longer.   Symptoms can resolve quickly.  Function may take forever.

Q. Should I take Supplements?  If so, which ones?

A. Absolutely, unless you’re growing all your own food in a pesticide free environment and swim in the fountain of youth!  Which supplement to take requires more thought.  What are you trying to accomplish or correct?  Are you wearing out? Lacking energy? Overweight? Becoming Osteoporotic?  Research which supplement may help, narrow it down the most beneficial, and try them to see if they agree with your overall body constitution without side effects.

Q. Besides Chiropractic Care, Eating Healthy & Supplements, What else should I do?

A. Exercise! If you don’t take the time, you are doing your body a great disservice.  Exercise improves and protects your health.  It keeps the body and mind healthy.

Start light & work up to a minimum of 40 minutes per day, 4 days a week.  Do something enjoyable, mix it up & be persistent.  Start an exercise log.   The hardest part is to roll out of bed & take the first step.

Jack Lalane, the aged exercise guru, once stated “Do you think I like getting up at 4:00am and exercising?  I hate it!  I hate it! I hate it, but I love what it does for my body.”
